When a Christian studies church history, they are uncovering the Christian generations that came before them so they can answer the questions concerning their identity and their foundation.
Slade Johnson, Associational Mission Strategist for the Golden Isles Baptist Network, has a rich and fascinating heritage. His great-grandfather was Reuben Archer Torrey (better known as R. A. Torrey), born in 1856 and died on October 26, 1928.
“Since I became IMB president, because of your generosity not one IMB missionary has come home due to financial need. Thank you,” said Paul Chitwood during the International Mission Board report.
This year’s WMU celebration at the Omni Dallas Hotel June 8 featured the theme “Let the Nations Be Glad,” based on Psalm 67:4: “May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the people with equity and guide the nations of the earth.”
Mary Lane Moore added that many in their small church of 50 members cannot go to the missions field due to health or work, but that didn’t stop God from calling them to be a part of it in some capacity.
