Two years of pent-up frustration related to race relations in the Southern Baptist Convention combined with a contentious presidential race and renewed chatter about how women fit into ministry roles seem to be laying the groundwork for an anticipated lively annual meeting June 15-16 in Nashville.
Other topics of discussion likely to surface involve transparency concerns with some entity leaders, funding decisions and the resurfacing of Paige Patterson in denominational life.
More than 14,250 people have registered for the meeting, the highest number to attend in more than a decade.
