Alaska Baptists can provide service opportunities for your church this summer

Looking for somewhere you or your church can serve this summer?

Alaska Baptists are in need of help with a range of projects that would encourage their ministry, said Jae McKee, who serves as director of missions and church planting for the Alaska Baptist Resource Network.

“Teams coming up are helpful in encouraging our churches and people to engage in missions locally and globally,” he said.

He noted that Alaska Baptists can feel isolated and that they can face challenges in reaching the isolated people in their region.

Church members also encounter cultural differences, independent-minded personalities and a lack of trust as they share the gospel. Encouragement from other believers can help, McKee said.

“Setting the example of sacrifice, service and selflessness, teams coming here are catalytic in assisting Alaskans [with reaching] our state for Christ and [exposing] our members to a bigger worldview through cooperation together,” he said.

Current needs include:

  • A team to replace gutters and some of the roof at Filipino Bible Church in Anchorage. Some painting is also needed there.
  • Individuals to help with a variety of summer camp-related needs.
  • A retired couple to invest three to six months in ministry to military bases and an apartment complex near Moose Creek Baptist Church in North Pole.
  • Teams to help with construction projects at various churches.
  • An adult team to help with Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church Valdez.
