Rashional Thoughts: Thank you for partnering with us to connect all Baptists

Have you picked out a favorite section of The Baptist Paper yet? Be sure to let us know what you are enjoying the most — and even what you are enjoying the least.

As with all publications, you’ll likely focus in on a few specific sections and skim over the rest, and that’s definitely OK.

And if you are one of our countless cover-to-cover readers, then that works great too.

We work hard to provide a little something for everyone — individual believers as well as church groups.

You’ll find content to help you grow in the faith; news to help you stay informed from straightforward reporting; and features that share what God is doing through His people across the nation and the world.

As you read, we hope you feel inspired and encouraged and discover new ministry ideas to reach your community.

We hope you sense specific ways to pray for believers on the front lines, for ministry efforts taking place and for those needing Christ in our communities.

And we pray God speaks to you in some way as you engage with The Baptist Paper.

It might be a comment made by a source in an article; it could be a nugget shared on the Your Voice spread. You never know how God will speak to you through the words of others — words our team diligently and prayerfully puts together issue after issue.

Thank you for making the effort to think logically and clearly about all the topics being addressed and taking what you discover to develop your own opinions and concerns — and to share with others around you.

Thank you for joining us in the conversation.

As far as the various sections are concerned, here are a few notes about some of them:

Headlines from the states

In the Headlines News from the States section, our plan is to rotate between all 50 states every four issues, so each state should appear at least once during that time frame.

To ensure all states receive equal representation, we check off a list after each issue and focus on the remaining states when looking for headline items for the next issue.

We welcome your submissions for consideration for news items to be shared in this section. Send your suggestions to news@thebaptistpaper.org.

Advertising partners

You’ll notice several advertising partners in each issue. We hope you will spend a few minutes checking out the ministries, educational institutions and organizations who are supporting us.

Their ads allowed us to print and mail the free trial issues. As we grow, their ads will continue to offset prices so we can keep subscription prices manageable.

Offering a print product in a world of high paper prices and an anticipated postage rate hike in August is not easy, but our advertising partners help make it a reality.

Subscriptions

Your subscriptions and additional support also make The Baptist Paper possible.

Many of you have already subscribed. Thank you for the partnership.

If you’ve not had a chance to work out your subscription plan yet, then let us help you think through all the options.

Debbie Campbell and Haley Piersol on our team can walk you through all the options. And Annette Brown will absolutely make your day if you want to call to say hello.

Give us a call at 800-803-5201 or email us at subscribe@thebaptistpaper.org.

Spreading the word

Along with taking care of your individual and/or church subscriptions, we would love for you to help spread the word.

Who do you know that would benefit from reading The Baptist Paper? Who would enjoy receiving it?

Help us get the word out, and even if you aren’t comfortable sharing about how to subscribe or advertise, then consider sharing your copy with others as they come to mind related to an article or resource that is featured.

Opinion: A concerned response on truth, unity and honest cooperation

Truth and unity are not enemies. They belong together. Unity without truth becomes drift. Truth without unity becomes fragmentation. Southern Baptists need both.

Opinion: Pondering Mohler’s ‘truth and unity’ SBC amendment

Let’s chat about Al Mohler’s “truth and unity” amendment coming to the floor of the SBC Annual Meeting in Orlando. Opinion: Concerns with limiting pastoral function to pastoral office for the local church

The concern with this proposed SBC constitution amendment is whether the amendment’s prohibitive language unnecessarily expands beyond the pastoral office itself into a broad and undefined expression of “function” that could potentially lead to unnecessary and unbiblical limitations for women engaging ministerially in the local church and in local and global mission.
