Janet Rohde, who served for nearly three decades as a missionary to Guyana, died Sept. 25. She was 78.
Rohde grew up in Oklahoma and Kansas and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry. She was accepted into medical school, but after spending two summers on mission in Guyana, she felt God was calling her in a different direction.
Rohde enrolled instead at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where she met her husband, Paul. Together they served as International Mission Board missionaries in Guyana for nearly 30 years. Side by side, they shared the gospel and the love of Jesus with hundreds of people.
Rohde is survived by her husband of 55 years; sons, John Paul and Kyle; daughter, Sara Elizabeth; six grandchildren.
