Former President Joe Biden, 82, has reportedly been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, he announced Sunday (May 18), according to multiple media reports.
Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, Biden’s medical team reported the cancer appears “hormone-sensitive,” allowing for effective treatment options, the Associated Press reported.
Reaction, well-wishes
In a post on the social media platform X, Biden shared, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
Following the announcement, President Trump was among those around the globe who extended well-wishes for a “fast and successful recovery.”
Medical experts note the five-year survival rate for this cancer stage is between 30–40%, Fox News reported.
