Most congregations have not fully captured God’s vision for them and too often settle for average — rather than strive for exceptional, says George Bullard.
Bullard, an author and correspondent for The Baptist Paper who has spent 45 years in denominational ministry, shares how churches can capture that vision in his latest book, “Soaring with Faith: The Difference Maker for Congregations,” released by TAB Media Group in conjunction with Iron Stream Media.
“Most congregations fail to soar with faith,” Bullard noted in the book. “The majority of congregations focus on success in the hope of sustained long-term faithfulness. Others seek to be significant in Christian ministry by pushing forward to serve as faithful and effective congregations. Only those who wholeheartedly surrender their ministry to the fulfillment of God’s empowering vision for their congregation are faithful, effective, and innovative.”
He later shared with The Baptist Paper, “My life and ministry has been fully dedicated to helping congregations reach their full Kingdom potential in response to God’s empowering vision for them.”
“One key to this journey is for each congregation to understand their beginning point of soaring, strong, stumbling, struggling or spiritless,” he said. “A second key is to understand what soaring with faith looks like, when with success, significance and surrender they are approaching their potential, plus how to sustain lifelong a soaring pattern. These two keys represent my hope for all congregations.”

‘Exciting venture’
Bullard’s book is TAB Media Group’s first attempt with the new book publishing effort.
“While TAB Media Group has been in the publishing business since 1843, we’ve not attempted book publishing until now,” noted Jennifer Davis Rash, president and editor-in-chief of TAB Media Group. “It’s an exciting venture to explore, and we are honored veteran congregational consultant George Bullard is partnering with us to develop a process and plan for what that might look like. We are working in conjunction with Iron Stream Media and are currently celebrating the release of our first book under the TAB Media Group imprint.”
Strategic thinking mentor
Bullard retired in 2022 as director of Columbia Metro Baptist Association in South Carolina. During his ministry, he served on the staff of three associations, was a key staff person working with associations in two state conventions and served on the association missions division staff of the former Home Mission Board of the SBC. In addition to his many writing ventures, Bullard serves as a strategic thinking mentor for Christian leaders through his ForthTelling Innovation ministry.
