A federal judge has reportedly ordered California to pay $4.5 million in legal fees after losing a lawsuit over school gender-identity policies.
U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez awarded the fees to plaintiffs challenging a law restricting parental notification. The U.S. Supreme Court previously ruled 6–3 to let Benitez’s decision stand, which blocked the policy. The judge ruled the law violated parental rights and constitutional protections, and he also called the issue central to family life, reported The Christian Post and other news outlets.
