In what could be a major breakthrough in the battle against pornography, Radiant Mobile launched May 5 — and it is being touted as the “first-ever Christian mobile carrier.” The phone network, according to USA Today and MIT Technology Review, is offering users content filtering that can block pornography and a variety of other material viewed as harmful: self-harm, racism and some sexuality-related content.

The service reportedly operates on T-Mobile infrastructure through partnerships with Compax Ventures and Israeli cybersecurity firm Allot, and the service also provides Bible readings and children’s content.
The network seeks a “Jesus-centric” environment, founder Paul Fisher told MIT Technology Review. Since the network’s launch, Chief Operating Officer Chris Klimis noted, thousands have joined or joined waitlists.
