In his 23rd and final report to messengers of the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting, Danny Akin, president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Judson College, noted the seminary’s strength, specifically marked by increased enrollment across all degree programs.

“What I love most about Southeastern is our relentless focus on the Great Commission,” Akin said June 9 in Orlando. “In the days ahead, you’re going to continue to hear me beat the drum of the Great Commission because I believe that’s the beat that keeps everything else in rhythm. It is, indeed, our marching orders until King Jesus returns.”

Akin said 76 Southeastern students were sent out for missions service earlier this year. He also commended the seminary’s Farsi-language program, which reaches students around the world, particularly in the Middle East.
“It is encouraging to know that in a country right now that is racked by war, there are men and women that are receiving training, both on the college level and the master’s level — the only theological education going on on that level, literally, in the world.”
Akin also introduced Scott Pace, president-elect, who will officially assume the role on Aug. 1.
