A Hindu mob disrupted a worship service in India, resulting in police jailing two Christian pastors on allegations of forced conversions.
The radical Hindu nationalist mob bombarded a makeshift worship hall in Rajouti village, interrupting the March 27 worship service. The mob assaulted members of the congregation, according to the human rights group International Christian Concern.
Police arrested the two pastors who lead the congregation and accused them of breaching the anti-conversion law.
Much pressure has been exerted on Christians in Rajouti village to return to Hinduism. Because the Christians have refused to denounce their faith in Jesus Christ, the mob attacked the worship gathering, local sources told ICC.
The congregation consists of 25 families. ICC said these families have withstood threats and abuses from the radical Hindus.
“Social boycotts, disruption of worship and service, violent assaults, imprisonment of pastors and Christians are commonplace,” ICC reported.
India is No. 10 on Open Doors’ 2022 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian.
