Southern Baptist Convention messengers approved all 12 recommendations presented by the Executive Committee during the Southern Baptists Convention annual meeting.
The more than 11,000 messengers and their guests endured a full day of entity reports, the first set of officer elections and an opportunity to make their requests known today (June 9) during the SBC Annual Meeting in Orlando.
“We must streamline operations and focus more narrowly on our core functions … The EC has a limited but essential function in the SBC eco-system. Limited does not mean unimportant,” EC president Jeff Iorg shared June 8 during the EC meeting in Orlando.
Southern Baptist families across the country will be making the familiar trek to Orlando this summer for the 2026 SBC Annual Meeting — and probably a stop at Disney.
During the Executive Committee’s winter meeting in Nashville, Jeff Iorg shared his report emphasizing “steady incremental progress” despite ongoing challenges facing the Southern Baptist Convention.

Our mission remains unchanged because it is rooted in God’s calling, not in one individual. God’s plan for this organization is bigger than any single person’s role.
