“This is a beautiful community,” says David Gaskins. “Our nickname is Happy Valley. Every lawn is perfect. Every home is immaculate. But that’s the wild thing — Happy Valley is a sarcastic nickname because almost nobody is happy here.”
It is not a matter of Southern Baptist Disaster Relief becoming the arm of the government — it’s the government recognizing and supporting Christians who are eager to stretch out their arms to their neighbors in need.
There were four main themes during the North American Mission Board’s Send Luncheon on Monday, June 10, in Indianapolis as Southern Baptists blessed a family and provided support for adopting and fostering families.
“To see some of them just break down with the Holy Spirit, at the power of the gospel that Shane (Pruitt) was able to present, was incredible,” said Jared Barham, associate pastor of youth at Northside Baptist Church in Indianapolis
“We are hoping that Crossover is a spark that will light that fuel of revival and evangelism here in our community, help us build up some of our churches,” said Roger Kinion, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenfield, Indiana.
Destructive storms and tornadoes hit the Midwest damaging homes over the weekend. At least five people were killed in Oklahoma, and more than 100 injuries have been reported.
The Week of Prayer for North American Missions is March 3–10. The offering is used for training, support and care for missionaries, like Noelson and Edna Chery, and for evangelism resources.
