Southern Baptists are urging prayer and working with ministry partners in response to catastrophic flooding in Pakistan — brought on by the monsoon season — that has claimed more than 1,100 lives and impacted 33 million people. Reportedly one-third of the country is submerged under water due to the crisis.
The disaster has displaced 3.1 million people and destroyed over half a million homes, according to an update by Send Relief, a compassion ministry and collaboration between the International Mission Board and North American Mission Board. Southern Baptists are currently working with local partners to respond in multiple locations across Southern Pakistan to meet a variety of needs, the group reported.
“These partners are leading emergency food distributions, providing temporary shelter and distributing medicine and hygiene items to over 6,000 of the displaced,” Send Relief reported.
“Join us in praying for those impacted by these devastating floods, and pray for our partners as they serve.”
