Iglesia Bautista El Calvario in Roswell, New Mexico, celebrated the baptism of 10 individuals. Among them were Valentine Leyva Reyes, Adonis Vargas, Mario Antonio Rosales, Ben Vencent Calzada, Bartolo “Bert” Jimenez, Ricardo Servantez, Henry and Alicia Villareal, and Layla and Anthony King Hernandez. The group, who had been attending the church for varying periods, felt it was time to make this important spiritual commitment.
Pastor Eugenio “Eugene” de Los Santos baptized the group in June after they completed a baptismal class. Notably, Henry and Alicia Villareal, visiting from New York, and Layla and Anthony King Hernandez, siblings raised by their grandparents, were among the youngest baptized.
Each participant expressed joy and relief after the ceremony. De Los Santos shared that the church continues to see new baptisms, with plans for four more, all children. Iglesia Bautista El Calvario, a bilingual church, is known by many for being a strong faith community.
