Black Friday sales hit record levels; Baptists gear up for Giving Tuesday

Black Friday sales hit record levels; Baptists gear up for Giving Tuesday

Congratulations if you survived shopping on Black Friday (Nov. 28). The annual shopping tradition for many families prompted sales to hit record levels this year, rising about 4% from 2024, according to multiple media reports.

What about online spending? It reportedly reached an all-time high of $11.8 billion, and that’s up roughly 9% from last year, according to Adobe Analytics. Small businesses? They also reportedly saw strong turnout, though Salesforce reported shoppers bought fewer items as higher prices drove much of the increase. Some economists cautioned that inflation means real gains may be modest, and spending is increasingly split between higher-income shoppers and more budget-conscious households, CNN reported.

Giving Tuesday

Meanwhile, Southern Baptist entities and a variety of other ministries are offering numerous ways to help others on Giving Tuesday. This year’s opportunities include everything from goats to helping Send Relief strengthen drought-impaired communities, to funds to archive Southern Baptist history, Baptist Press reported.
