Charles Grant, executive director for African American relations and mobilization for the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee, said there’s a number of ways the Black Multicultural Collective wants to serve the next generation.
“We want to help establish unity, and in many ways that’s already being done,” Grant said at the Black Multicultural Emerging Leaders lunch June 14. “When we come together, we want to make sure we’re adding to the benefit of establishing community.”
He said he also wants to provide information to help leaders navigate the convention and provide opportunities for training to “empower you even more to be able to duplicate disciples and leaders in your church, and thereby duplicate missions and ministry opportunities.”
During the lunch, attendees heard from speakers including Willie McLaurin, interim president and CEO of the SBC Executive Committee; Dhati Lewis, lead pastor of Blueprint Church in Atlanta; and Jason Thomas, African American church mobilization strategist for the International Mission Board.
