Bond continues card-writing ministry, expands to helping raise foster care awareness

Allison Bond said when she was in the fourth grade, her handwriting was horrible. And she remembers thinking, “I’m not going to use it for anything, so why learn it?”

But God had different plans, she said. Now she runs a ministry called Kindness Through Letters Mission, writing dozens of cards each month to inmates, soldiers, sick children and anyone else who might need encouragement.

Check out more stories on Allison Bond’s ministry.

Bond, who has mild cerebral palsy, has written more than 6,000 total since starting the ministry in 2021.

She recently expanded that effort to include some new work — serving as director of letter stewardship for The Long Road Home project, a horseback ride in Arkansas that raises foster care awareness. In that role, she received letters that would be delivered on horseback to the Arkansas State Capitol from children, families and professionals impacted by foster care.

“With my parents running a foster home and me being their only biological kid, this felt like something I wanted to be a part of,” said Bond, who attends Liberty Baptist Church in Lincoln, Arkansas.
