Mary Wiley is challenging women to spend every day in the Scriptures. As the associate publisher of B&H Publishing Group and a mom of four, she knows this is no small ask amid the busyness of life.
Her new 52-week Bible study, “Every Day in the Bible,” and its accompanying daily podcast are designed to bring together everything needed to help readers understand, love and live out God’s Word in an accessible and engaging multi-dimensional format.
“When you read Scripture a bit at a time, it can be difficult to connect the pieces, see the same God working throughout the centuries and know Jesus fulfills every promise,” said Elizabeth Hyndman, editorial project leader for Lifeway Women. “‘Every Day in the Bible’ will not only help with the discipline of daily reading the Word but will also help in making those connections.”
Truth to light
The new Lifeway Women Bible study walks through the books of the Bible in an order that brings Old Testament truths to light with New Testament clarity. The study begins in John, then moves to Genesis. And readers study the Law alongside Hebrews and Romans.
“Over the course of a year, you won’t merely read the entire Bible. You’ll understand how it fits together as one unified story of a God who creates, loves and redeems His people,” Wiley said. “I hope readers discover connections they’ve missed, bring their hard questions to the text and experience God on every page.”
Each day, participants follow a simple reading plan paired with a daily podcast on the Lifeway Podcast Network that includes the day’s Scripture reading, helpful context and commentary and a passage-centered prayer. While an introductory episode is available now, the daily podcast begins Jan. 1.
Reflection questions and discussion guides make the resource well suited to personal study or small groups. The study makes room for a reader’s difficult questions and points to the unity of Scripture, from creation to redemption and restoration.
Teens
A teen version of the study will be released on Nov. 3 to equip youth ministries, girls’ ministry groups, moms and daughters in establishing Bible study rhythms and fostering studying Scripture together.
“I believe great discipleship consists of both studying fast and studying slow — seeing the full arc of Scripture and also digging deeply into the dirt of one book to mine the immense riches within,” said Wiley. “This work does the first, working through full books across one or two weeks, seeking to see Christ every day and exploring connections between Old Testament and New Testament passages and concepts.”
Hyndman added, “Through the Bible study and the podcast, participants will see how God is faithful and good, as they read of His goodness and faithfulness in the past and promises of His goodness and faithfulness for the future.”
