Women & Work held their third forum at the Southern Baptist Convention on June 15 at First Baptist Church, Nashville, with guest speaker Jamie Ivey.
Ivey — author, speaker and host of the Happy Hour Podcast and The Jamie Ivey Talk Show — talked about calling and work, and answered questions from the audience.
“If you’re a follower of Jesus … we all have the same highest calling — to make Him known and bring Him glory,” Ivey said. “It’s established. You have a calling already, and this calling you have on your life is amazing; it is phenomenal.”
If women don’t know where their sweet spot is in life and ministry, “go serve and figure it out,” Ivey said. “If you get some place and it’s not working, try something else.”
She said she didn’t find her own sweet spot in ministry until she was in her mid-30s. She said other women’s might depend on their life season, too — balancing work and life is different with the ages and stages of your children, for example.
“You’ve been given a voice to make a difference where you are, where He’s planted you with the people who are around you,” Ivey said.
She was interviewed during the event by Missie Branch and Courtney Moore, co-hosts of the Women & Work Podcast.
Women & Work, which held its first live event at SBC in 2018, provides biblical resources throughout the year, including its podcast, a blog and a book club.
