Oklahoma Baptist University’s prison divinity program was recognized as the top academic institution of the year at the fourth annual National Moral Rehabilitation Conference in Memphis.
“I love this weekend because it’s an opportunity for me to get closer to God, and there’s no better place to get closer to God than through His nature,” said Sam Holt, an RA coordinator.
“Southern Baptists have been so good to us,” said Robin Hoffman, a Florida Baptist who is among those helping her community recover from Hurricane Idalia. “They have made it bearable because we know help is on the way. We’re not alone.”
Unity Baptist Church in Ashland, Kentucky, went fishing for men, and the bait was IMPACT Ashland, a mercy-based ministry event providing free resources to their community.
“The whole concept is really removing the barrier of cost of premium Christian higher education,” said Darby Renfro, a freshman at Mississippi College.
Though some pastors have been in ministry for 50 years, few stay in the same congregation for half a century. Charles Moore, 87, was honored Aug. 5 on his 50-year anniversary by his church, the local association and friends.
The official nomination of Julio Guarneri, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen, Texas, as BGCT’s next executive director will take place Sept. 18.
