The cause of death has been announced for Mandisa, the Grammy award-winning Christian music star who died unexpectedly April 18.
Mandisa, 47, was found dead at her home in Nashville, Tennessee. Police reportedly found no signs of foul play at the scene. According to the medical examiner Dr. Feng Li, Mandisa died from complications due to class III obesity and her death was listed as “natural,” the Tennessean reported. The singer was reportedly confirmed alive three weeks prior to her body being discovered, according to the report.
Rise of a star
The former “American Idol” contestant on Season 5 in 2006, captured national attention as she reached the top 10 of the contest. She’d go on to release her debut album, “True Beauty,” in 2007.
She also drew praise for her 2013 album “Overcomer,” which earned her a variety of media attention, including appearances on “Good Morning America.” Other well-known radio hits include “Stronger,” “Good Morning (featuring TobyMac)” and “My Deliverer.”
