In what was described as a heartwarming initiative, more than 90 participants from the Mississippi Baptist Student Union embarked on a mission, spreading the joy of Christmas across the Mississippi Delta.
Inspired by the need to address the unchurched and under-resourced aspects of their community, Josh Warren, the BSU director for Mississippi Delta Community College, initiated “Christmas in the Delta.”
The Dec. 10–13 project aimed to engage collegiate teams in missions, partnering with local churches and serving the community in the spirit of Christ.
Joining the cause
Despite hoping for 50 volunteers, the organizers were thrilled when 92 students from 11 BSUs across the state joined the cause.
The mission included various activities, from a history of missions to prison ministry, tornado relief, and crisis pregnancy center efforts.
The success of the mission trip reflected the realization of a long-held vision to bring laborers into the plentiful harvest of the Mississippi Delta, fostering a sense of community and faith.
