The cause of the disaster is reportedly due to a collapsed glacier that sent rock and ice into a river, triggering flash floods that swept away homes, roads and bridges, according to news reports. More than 500 foreigners are among the missing, including 90 Americans, the State Department reported. According to the latest reports, Nepal’s military has reportedly rescued more than 100 people by helicopter.

Send Relief, the Southern Baptist compassion ministry of the North American Mission Board and International Mission Board, is coordinating relief efforts — food, first aid and tents. The ministry is asking for continued pray and support to help survivors rebuild.
