The long-awaited sequel, produced by Gibson and Bruce Davey under Icon Productions with Lionsgate, is expected to be released in two parts — on Good Friday, March 26, 2027, and Ascension Day, May 6, 2027, according to media reports. “The Passion of the Christ” earned $610 million worldwide.
Who’s in it?
Among the latest details, Finnish actor Jaakko Ohtonen will replace Jim Caviezel as Jesus, according to Variety. An entirely new cast will include Mariela Garriga as Mary Magdalene and Kasia Smutniak as Mary.
