First person: New activity books for children an excellent complement to your curriculum

Our team at TAB Media Group is listening. Throughout the past several years, we have heard a growing need across our churches for more Bible-based resources that nurture faith in our youngest children in clear, gentle and meaningful ways.

Along with The Kids Edition newspaper, we are pleased to introduce “Teaching Little Hearts About God,” a new Bible study series for children ages 4–8, written by author Denise George. It offers 105 pages of lessons, activities and other information.

Simple Bible teaching

Each lesson is built around one simple NIV Bible verse and includes child-friendly explanations, simple discussion questions, coloring pages and hands-on activities that make learning joyful and memorable.

Jennifer Davis Rash, president and editor-in-chief

The series is intentionally uncomplicated. Volunteers can step in and teach with confidence. Parents and grandparents can open the book and begin sharing God’s Word at home, and no heavy preparation is required. We’ve made the books affordable for the church so every child in the congregation can own a copy ($8.95 each on Amazon or $5 each plus shipping and handling for bulk orders of 20 or more).

These early years are sacred. This is when children are forming their first picture of who God is, learning how to pray and discovering what it means to love Jesus. If we miss these tender seasons, we often spend years trying to recover what could have been planted so simply at the beginning.

The Spring edition is available now and provides three powerful themes in one edition. The first segment shows how Jesus reveals God’s love. The second segment teaches the Fruit of the Spirit — how children can become more like Jesus. The third segment helps children grow strong in God by learning His ways every day.

We believe “Teaching Little Hearts About God” will help plant strong seeds of faith in the youngest members of our churches — seeds that, by God’s grace, will grow for a lifetime.

We also want to make sure older children are nurtured, so we worked with George to design “Growing in God’s Wisdom” for 9- to 11-year-olds. They also are priced at $8.95 each on Amazon or $5 each plus shipping and handling for bulk orders of 20 or more.

Scripture-centered

The workbook is Scripture-centered and written specifically for children during those crucial years just before many young people begin drifting away from church and faith. By middle school, children are already forming their own beliefs about God, Scripture and truth. If we wait until the teen years, we are already late. This series is designed to plant spiritual roots before cultural pressure, fear, doubt and confusion begin pulling at their hearts. The simple activities, discussion questions and stories are age-appropriate and teach valuable lessons from Scripture for life.

Each lesson is clear and simple to teach — perfect for parents, grandparents, Sunday School teachers, homeschool families and children’s ministry leaders. It’s designed for real life. You open the book, read the Scripture, ask the questions and do the activity.

The beauty of this series is how quietly it builds faith. It helps children love God, love and trust Scripture, make wise choices and stand strong long before the storms of adolescence arrive. Our prayer is that when these children reach the teen years, their faith won’t be fragile but firmly rooted in Jesus.

Both books are easy to order and come in an 8 1/2 x 11-inch size, making it easy for them to do the activities right on the page. We’ve also made these books affordable. Every child can have his or her own book, making faith personal, memorable and meaningful.

For pastors, these books strengthen long-term church health by discipling children before adolescence. For children’s ministry leaders, it makes preparation much simpler and supports rotating volunteers. For parents and homeschool families, it fits naturally into everyday life with no extra preparation. For grandparents, it creates gentle faith moments of reading, praying, talking and passing down spiritual legacy.

Find the books on Amazon or contact TAB Media Group for bulk orders by emailing TheKidsEdition@tabmedia.group and specify activity workbooks or call 205-870-4720, ext. 106.
