W. Thomas Hammond, Jr., executive director of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, and the Executive Committee of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board announced a series of changes to the GBMB staff.
Effective Jan. 1, Andy Childs will assume the role of assistant executive director of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. This role was made vacant when Mark Marshall transitioned to lead the church strengthening ministry focus of the GBMB in March. Childs’s role will provide support to the executive director in addition to ministries reporting to him including Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief.
Additionally, Ty Salter will step into the role of chief financial officer for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. Salters will assume a portion of the responsibilities currently held by David Melber. Melber announced in October that he would be leaving to lead the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina effective January 1.
