Georgia’s Sarepta Baptist Association celebrates 225 years of God’s provision

The Sarepta Baptist Association in Athens, Georgia, celebrated its 225th annual meeting on Oct. 6 at Maysville Baptist Church, reflecting on its history and God’s provision.

Established in 1799, the association has adapted to meet changing needs while remaining committed to missions and evangelism.

A video presentation highlighted the association’s roots, featuring testimonies from early leaders like Thomas Maxwell, Dozier Thornton and William Davis, who faced persecution but played pivotal roles in spreading the gospel.

Great Awakening impact

The impact of the Second Great Awakening and the 1812 revival was also discussed, marking significant growth in the association’s early years.

Reports from current ministries, including Disaster Relief and a Panama mission partnership, were shared, along with testimony from a young man impacted by the Baptist Collegiate Ministry. Attendees were encouraged to be like those who bring others to Jesus.
