KingsCover Insurance Services gaining ground with churches

KingsCover Insurance Services launched last fall and has since opened applications in 16 states. More than 350 churches have signed up, according to a June 30 news release from Texas Baptists (Baptist General Convention of Texas).

The new insurance provider was created in partnership with BGCT “to provide affordable insurance that is adaptable to churches’ needs,” the leaders explained.

Crime coverages also are available through KingsCover, said John Murphy, senior vice president.

Steve Suffron, pastor of First Baptist Church Denison, Texas, said, “It has been a gift to see the insurance costs rolled back. Because of the faithfulness of our people to give and the savings we have received through KingsCover, we are able to utilize our budget for ministry purposes without worry of operating in the red.”

Texas Baptists associate executive director Craig Christina said he knew KingsCover would save churches money, but he never imagined the savings would amount to $3 million so far.

“Last week, a pastor heard his church’s premiums were being reduced by $31,000, and their coverage was increasing. He literally wept over the phone with the KingsCover agent, he was so happy and understood the transformational impact these savings would have on their budget,” Christina said, also noting 19 churches that did not previously have insurance coverage now have coverage through KingsCover.
