The Mississippi Baptist Convention Board is hosting the annual State Preaching Conference April 15–17, to be held in three locations across the state. The conference focuses on individual books of the Bible, with speakers covering crucial topics related to background and setting, theological themes and issues and approaches to preaching and teaching the book.
The speakers at the event are leading scholars and professors from the three Mississippi Baptist colleges — Blue Mountain Christian University, Mississippi College, and William Carey University.
A semester’s worth of teaching in one day
This year, the conference will concentrate on 1 and 2 Samuel.
“Our Preaching Conference will feature presentations by some of the leading Bible scholars in our state that will examine and analyze the background and theological lessons of 1 and 2 Samuel and provide powerful preaching and teaching ideas on applying these truths to our daily lives of faith and ministry,” said John Pace, director of the MBCB leadership department.
“The conference basically provides a semester’s worth of preaching and teaching information and materials in a one-day format that will equip you thoroughly to preach and teach the truths of these great books of the Bible. Plus, [the conference] is always a blessed time of ministerial growth, fellowship and encouragement, with a fellowship lunch provided for all the participants.”
Pace added, “We encourage and invite all pastors, ministers, laypeople and other interested parties to sign up and join us at one of the conference sites for this informative and blessed event.”
