OBITUARY

  • John L. “Johnny” Walker, 77, pastor emeritus of First Baptist Church Winona, died Aug. 28.

Events

  • One Yth is Oct. 2 starting with a parking lot party at 5:30 p.m.; doors open at 6:30, Brandon Civic Center. The event is aimed at students sixth through 12th grade. The speaker

  • Central Baptist Church, Yazoo County Baptist Association, will host a revival Oct. 6–9; Sunday, 10 a.m., 6 p.m.; Monday through Wednesday, 7 p.m. The speaker is Jim Futral with music by Tim Ruth.
  • Mississippi Baptist Symphony Orchestra will be in concert Oct. 13, 6 p.m., Trinity Baptist Church, Philadelphia.
  • Perry County Baptist Association is hosting a rotating revival Oct. 13–16; Sunday,
    6 p.m.; Monday–Wednesday, 7 p.m.
  • Small Church Youth Ministry Workshops are planned in October. Gary Permenter will be the facilitator for these workshops Oct. 17, Williamsville Baptist Church, Kosciusko, and Oct. 24, First Baptist Church Wiggins. The events are from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Dinner is provided if you register a week in advance. Two more events are planned in November for Bay Springs and Seminary. Visit mbcb.org/event.
  • Volunteers needed to distribute coffee and water at the Watering Well associational booth at the Jackson County Fair, Oct. 20–26; one-hour individual and group slots available 9 a.m.–8 p.m.; contact: 228-769-7101.
  • Mississippi Baptist Conference of the Deaf will be Oct. 25–27, Timber Creek Camp, Pulaski. Register by Oct. 9 to guarantee meals. Men and women will be in separate buildings, up to five people in a room. Parents will be responsible for their children brought to camp. Visit mbcb.org/event.
