Two students and two teachers are dead following a shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, this morning (Sept. 4). A 14-year-old student, Colt Gray, has been charged with the murders, according to police reports.
At least nine others were injured before the student surrendered to law enforcement officials.
Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief posted on Facebook that volunteers were at Bethlehem Church tonight “praying for many many families whose lives have been turned upside down today by the senseless school shooting in Winder Ga.”
‘Our hearts mourn’
The Georgia Baptist Mission Board also called for prayer for the school in a Facebook post.
“Our hearts mourn in the wake of today’s events at Apalachee High School in Winder,” the post read. “We ask you to join us in praying for those closest to the tragedy and the Georgia Baptist churches ministering to the community.”
The post quoted Psalm 34:18 — “The Lord is near the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit.”
