Rose Hill Baptist Church in Ashland, Kentucky, has found a novel way to invest in the community it serves.
Church members set up a red tent in Central Park, a visible centerpiece in Ashland, two times a week and at a J&J’s, a popular restaurant in Boyd County, with a sign that simply invites people to pray with them.
Simple way
Steve Evans, the worship pastor at the church, brought the idea with him from a church where he served in South Carolina.
The prayer ministry has about 20 people participating three days a week and has contacted more than 150 people since it started in May.
It is not used to promote Rose Hill church as much as meeting the needs of broken people in the community.
“We have been able to share our faith with at least 20 people,” Evans said.
“Most of them (who visit) already tell me they are going to church, but we always ask if they know Jesus. We never fail to ask that. We want to make sure they know Jesus.”
