Ricardo Rivera, formerly the Baptist Convention of New Mexico’s State Hispanic strategist before retiring, wrote and published “Firmes y Adelante: Una Historia de la Obra Bautista Hispana en Nuevo Mexico” (Firm and Steady: A History of Hispanic Baptist Work in New Mexico). The book has been added to the BCNM’s archive.
Rivera began the book around two and a half years ago. It covers the history of Hispanic Baptist Work in New Mexico from 1849 to 2023 and tells the story of the Hispanic missionaries who came to New Mexico to share the Gospel and to plant churches. There is currently only a Spanish edition.
Rivera chose the book’s title to reflect the story of those who chose to come to New Mexico to share the gospel. The title comes from a hymn named “Firmes y Adelante.”
