SBC 2023: June 14 Afternoon Recap

In the closing session of the 2023 Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting in New Orleans, messengers adopted three resolutions and heard reports from each of the six Southern Baptist seminaries.

The three resolutions were on opposing “gender transitions,” on acknowledging Christ’s sole lordship over every human conscience and on appreciation for the city of New Orleans. This brings the total resolutions adopted during this year’s annual meeting to nine. For more information on the resolutions, visit https://thebaptistpaper.org/sbc2023/.

The final set of officer elections also took place. Reelected unopposed were Nathan Finn recording secretary and Don Currence registration secretary.

Florida pastor Dean Inserra was chosen as next year’s convention preacher, with Mike Keahbone as alternate. Southwestern Seminary’s Joe Crider will serve as next year’s convention music director. The 2024 SBC Annual Meeting will be held June 11–12 in Indianapolis.
