The Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee is relaunching its abuse prevention and response website, sexabuseprevention.com, offering new tools to help churches create safer environments for worship. The site features the updated Essentials 2.0 curriculum, expert blog posts, and a centralized hub for state convention resources.
Jeff Dalrymple, SBC’s director of abuse prevention, emphasized the need for churches to prepare before abuse incidents arise. Key updates include protocols for handling allegations and the introduction of child safety coordinators — individuals trained to identify and respond to abuse within or outside the church.
Dalrymple highlighted the importance of training volunteers to recognize abuse signs, noting they may be the only voice advocating for a child.
Starting June 9, churches can register for free fall webinars on grooming prevention and integrating convicted sex offenders safely and responsibly.
