Maryland and Delaware collegiate ministries recently revived their annual fall retreat at Skycroft Conference Center after a decade-long hiatus, drawing more than 120 students and staff from campuses including the US Naval Academy, University of Maryland College Park, Towson University, UMBC, and Montgomery College (MC) Germantown.
The October event, themed “The Great Pursuit,” featured former midshipman Garrett Gray (USNA Class of 2013), who led sessions on the story of Jonah, inspiring students to pursue Jesus wholeheartedly.
The retreat marked a renewed interest in community among Generation Z students post-pandemic, a generation often described as “the loneliest.” Adriana Alonzo, who leads the new ministry at MC Germantown, shared how the retreat encouraged her students by connecting them to a larger community.
Statewide events like this support both established and new ministries, with additional mission trips and ministry opportunities planned for students.
