Tony Evans proposes Kingdom Race Theology as biblical response to CRT

During a recent Wednesday night “hot topics” presentation at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Pastor Tony Evans addressed the conflict and confusion taking place across the nation around critical race theory.

Several other causes have been attached to the original theory and now “an explosion has occurred,” he said in July.

Along with a thorough explanation of how he sees where the confusion and concerns exist, Evans also outlined his proposal for how Christians can move forward with a “Kingdom Race Theology” concept.

KRT, as he calls it, is “the reconciled recognition, affirmation and celebration of the divinely created ethnic differences through which God displays His multifaceted glory as His people justly, righteously and responsibility function personally and corporately in unity under the lordship of Jesus Christ.”

Evans points to Ephesians 2 as defense for KRT.

“If you are spending more time discussing CRT than KRT, then you’ve been tricked by the world,” Evans added. “We are to be crafting something new. … God is not color blind … but He doesn’t want us to be blinded by color. He doesn’t want our hue to define our relationship. … Christ is supposed is to be all in all. … What are His rules, kingdom rules, that all of us are supposed to abide by?

“When your race trumps God’s word, you have made your race an idol. And God rejects idolatry. … Tell the truth, the whole truth … and don’t pretend [there aren’t difficult race-related issues] in history but you must move forward to one new man. That’s where we are going. That’s where God calls us to go.”
