Retired Brig. Gen. Thomas C. “T.C.” Pinckney, who made a name for himself in SBC leadership circles during the 1990s and early 2000s, died Dec. 20 at 91.
A layman and decorated U.S. Air Force command pilot who served in Vietnam, Pinckney advocated for advancing more conservative aspects in the denomination, according to a report in Baptist Press. He served on the SBC Executive Committee in the early 1990s, on the committee to update the Baptist Faith and Message in 2000 and as SBC second vice president in 2002.
A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Pinckney spent most of his adult life in Virginia, where he was a charter member of Good News Baptist Church in Alexandria.
