While helping a Nebraska church renovate its facility, teams from two Kansas churches also helped an encounter with a stranded motorist turn into a “divine” appointment.
Two teams from First Baptist Church, Dighton, Kansas and Sublette Southern Baptist Church in Sublette were helping out this summer at Renewed Hope Church in the Omaha area, a replanted church that launched in 2021. The church had recently started meeting in a new location — the former Cornerstone Church facility in La Vista.
Divine appointments ‘all around us’
While helping the church, members of the visiting teams stumbled upon an opportunity to share the love of Christ with Rose. Renewed Hope’s pastor, Shane Lester, shared the story on Facebook:
“Her car broke down across from our church today,” he shared. “A bunch of the guys from the mission team helped me push it into the parking lot.
“While a few guys started troubleshooting her car, I took the opportunity to share the gospel with Rose,” said Lester, noting it was the first time Rose had heard the “good news of what God had done through Jesus to cover her sins.”
“Through her tears she prayed, trusting Christ alone for salvation,” he said.
Lester added, “Afterward some of the ladies fixed her lunch, while several men worked together to secure a new alternator and battery. Everyone worked together to get it all installed and ready to go for Rose!
“Keep your eyes open, folks,” he said. “Divine appointments are all around us! Let’s walk in the fullness of the Spirit and be bold with the message of salvation!”
