Amy Whitfield, associate vice president for convention communications for the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee, announced recently that she is joining the staff of The Summit Church, based in Durham, North Carolina.
“I am making a professional transition, which is a good thing, but it’s also a little bittersweet,” said Whitfield on the June 25 episode of SBC This Week, a podcast she co-hosts with Jonathan Howe, EC vice president for communications.
Whitfield has been serving the SBC EC for almost two years. Prior to that she served as the director of marketing and communications for Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. She has also worked for Lifeway Christian Resources and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
She is the author of “SBC FAQs: A Ready Reference,” with Keith Harper, a Baptist historian who teaches at SEBTS. Whitfield also has been at the forefront of SBC annual meetings as one of the parliamentarians who serves during the meeting each year. Her new role is executive director of communications at The Summit.
