Authorities in Angola have formally charged the wife of 44-year-old SIM USA missionary Beau Shroyer, who was fatally stabbed Oct. 25, 2024, in Lubango, near where the couple and their five children lived.
Jackie Shroyer, also 44 and serving as a missionary, has been accused of being the “co-author” behind an alleged murder-for-hire plan targeting her husband. She was arrested after Beau had been stabbed to death during what was reportedly staged to look like a robbery while the couple stopped alongside a road to help stranded motorists. At least three other men are believed to have been involved in the crime.
‘It saddens me immensely’
Troy Easton, the pastor of Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, recently shared an update with the church, where the couple had been members.
“It saddens me immensely to have to share with you that we were notified that Jackie has been formally charged as a co-author in the murder of her husband,” he noted in the statement. “As a result of formal charges, it is our understanding that she will remain in custody and tried before a judge.”
The court date has not yet been set, Easton said, but will likely occur within the next six months.
“Beau and Jackie’s children will continue to be cared for by close family with support from both SIM and Lakes Area Vineyard Church,” the statement said. “In light of the ongoing judicial process, we will not be able to comment any further at this time. I’m so very sorry. Please continue to cling to the Lord and His unchanging character, nature and love and continue to pray for truth to be clear, for justice to be served and for God’s kingdom to come and will to be done.”
The Shroyers moved to Angola with their five children in 2021 to serve in youth outreach with SIM USA.
