The Choctaw Baptist Association in Mississippi led its first combined mission trip June 15–21 to partner with an isolated church in South Dakota.
The team consisted of three churches — Macedonia Church, Pine Bluff Church, and Stonewall Church — along with the financial contributions of many others, and was joined by Ray Duplessie, Choctaw ministry consultant with the Multicultural Ministries department of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board.

With a long road ahead, 21 people, including a few youth, packed up three vans and drove for two days to their destination of Enemy Swim, South Dakota. On arrival to Bethany Church, standing alone amid the community of the Dakota people, the Choctaw team was surprised to find just how isolating the ministry could be.
