Payton Gendron, 18, has been accused of a May 14 mass shooting at a Tops Friendly Markets grocery store location in Buffalo, New York.
He was indicted by a grand jury on Thursday (May 19) and is scheduled to appear back in court June 9. He has pleaded not guilty, according to media reports.
Grieving community
Pastor William Smith and the North Buffalo Community Church congregation are ministering to the community even while grieving for a church member’s brother who was killed in the shooting — retired police officer Aaron Salter.
“We are doing lots of praying today,” a church leader shared during the May 15 sermon.
“We are praying because we need to reach out to the almighty God who has the solution to all this craziness that continues to get worse and worse and worse.”
