Messengers to the Nov. 4-5 Illinois Baptist State Association annual meeting were presented with five resolutions by the Resolutions and Christian Life Committee which were overwhelmingly approved.
It was a celebration of tears and laughter, as messengers at the IBSA Annual Meeting honored Executive Director Nate Adams ahead of his planned retirement. Two moments stand out.
“Moody Bible Institute should not be forced to choose between our faith and helping students advance in their educational opportunities,” Moody President Mark Jobe said in a statement to World magazine.
After 66 years in operation in suburban Chicago, Trinity Christian College will close at the end of the 2025-26 academic year. The school’s final commencement will be May 8, 2026.
“This is not a time for Southern Baptists to get mad. It is not a time to look for a person or persons to blame. Southern Baptist leaders need to know that we can handle disappointing news and face challenges with resolve, not rage. This is a time for Southern Baptists to buckle up and get ready for some tough news, some hard choices, and the necessity of working up hill for years,” said Chuck Kelley.
When I ran into Kay Arthur on the campus of New Orleans Seminary about 30 years ago, I was surprised. No one had announced she would be there. We students thought we knew all the campus news, but apparently not. For me, this was a big deal.
