If you haven’t heard, astronaut Butch Wilmore has been talking a lot about his Christian faith with the media. Since returning to Earth with his fellow astronaut, Suni Williams, Wilmore has not been shy about giving credit to God and sharing how his faith helped sustain him during an uncertain time.
Wilmore noted that he continued to tune into to watch services with his home church — Providence Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas — online during his time in space.
‘Finest pastors on or off … the planet’
“Well, goodness, the Word of God … I need it,” Wilmore said Monday (March 31) during a press conference. “My pastors are the finest pastors on or off, in this case, the planet.”
“And to tie in and to worship with my church family was vital,” Wilmore added. “I mean, it’s part of what makes me go.”
He added, “Part of what I need, as a believer in Jesus Christ, to continue that focus — a system, day in and day out, because I need that fellowship, even though it’s fellowship from afar.”
