The battle over gender issues across the country continues to rage on as Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys are appealing a federal ruling on behalf of a Christian bookstore and an athletic apparel company, both in Colorado. The cases, Born Again Used Books v. Sullivan and XX-XY Athletics v. Sullivan, challenge a statute signed by Colorado Gov. Jared Polis requiring use of each individual’s preferred names and pronouns. The businesses contended the statute compels speech violating their religious beliefs and constitutional rights. A federal court denied a temporary injunction March 31. ADF points to the Supreme Court’s decision in Chiles v. Salazar supporting free speech protections.
