With more than 7,000 in attendance and 2,000 going to the altar, the Unite Kentucky event in Rupp Arena on Wednesday has continued a growing move among college students and young adults.
Investing in young men in ministry carries great rewards — as evidenced by what has happened at First Baptist Church Fairdale.
After nearly six years from the time its sanctuary was destroyed by a tornado, Mount Zion Baptist Church moved into a rebuilt sanctuary on Jan. 19.
“The Baptist Collegiate Ministries across Florida play a strategic role in reaching students on campus and connecting them to local Florida Baptist churches,” said Nathan Schneider, Florida Baptists’ next generation ministry lead catalyst.
“It’s amazing to see the Lord’s providence — that Taco Bell saved our lives.”
Founder and director Becky Delisio says, “Last year, our budget for the baby pantry was $600, but we gave away over $60,000 worth of diapers, $30,000 in wipes, and $50,000 in formula.”
“We exist to serve Kentucky Baptist churches and one way we do that is by investing in the theological education of the current and future ministers of Kentucky Baptist churches,” said Michael Cabell.
Challenges as well as opportunities exist in not only reaching the Gen Z population, but in mobilizing that demographic for the cause of Christ. Both facets were involved in a REFOCUS event Tuesday.
“The reason we’re continuing to do this on such a cold night is because some of our neighbors don’t [have a] choice of what the weather is outside,” Ryan Duerk said.
“My son said to me (in the vision), ‘Why didn’t you do anything to change the culture or change the minds or influence people?’” said J. Taylor Davis, on his inspiration for writing his new book.
