Southern Baptists gathered once again to celebrate the ministry of chaplains, pastors and families during the North American Mission Board’s annual Send Luncheon. On Monday (June 8), NAMB President Kevin Ezell spotlighted some of the ways churches and fellow Southern Baptists care for one another throughout the year.
The event honored more than 50 SBC-endorsed military and public service chaplains, who were recognized for their service. NAMB leaders urged churches to continue praying for the more than 3,000 chaplains serving around the globe.

Navy Chaplain Jason Porter and his wife, Chastity, shared about the challenges of being away from each other during his deployment aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford. And Minnesota pastor Jonathan Parnell explained how God provided protection after protesters disrupted a church service earlier this year.
Ezell also honored Utah pastor Carl Wimmer and his family, who endured difficult loss and health challenges. Through gifts from Southern Baptists, NAMB and state convention partners have teamed up to help meet needs and support ongoing ministry in their growing church.
