More than 350 Baptist Student Union students from 18 Mississippi colleges joined “Christmas in the Delta,” a ministry mobilizing students for gospel-centered service across nine Delta counties. Supported by local churches and Mississippi Baptist Disaster Relief, students undertook construction projects, food pantries, block parties and prison ministry at the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman.

Hands-on ministry
Students built wheelchair ramps, repaired homes and supported tornado recovery efforts in Rolling Fork. They also engaged in worship, prayer and outreach events, with testimonies shared among seminary graduates at Parchman. This year’s participation far exceeded the initial 87 students in 2022.
“Christmas in the Delta” highlighted cross-departmental partnerships between collegiate ministries and Disaster Relief, which served nearly 4,000 meals during the week.
